According to Deadline, Disney has struck a multi-series deal with Channel 4 for 10 shows. The network’s streaming service was recently rebranded from All4 to Channel 4, making it the only broadcaster in the UK whose SVoD has the same name as its linear channel.
The shows included in the deal, which will stay on Disney+, are The X Files, Abbott Elementary, Bones, Alias, Grown-ish, Empire, The Americans, Scandal, The Killing, and Star.
The X Files first aired on September 10, 1993 on Fox and stars Gillian Anderson (The Spy Who Dumped Me, White Bird) and David Duchovny (Twin Peaks, Californication).
Bones premiered on March 28, 2017 on Fox and stars Emily Deschanel (Devil in Ohio, Animal Kingdom) and David Boreanaz (Angel, SEAL Team).
Grown-ish premiered on January 3, 2018 on Freeform and stars Yara Shahidi (The Sun is Also a Star, Imagine That) and Emily Arlook (20 Dates, You People).
Alias debuted on May 22, 2006 on ABC and stars Jennifer Garner (Yes Day, 13 Going on 30) and Michael Vartan (Never Been Kissed, It Had to Be You).
Abbott Elementary debuted on December 7, 2021 on ABC and stars Quinta Brunson (Cars on the Road, Miracle Workers) and Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris, The Walking Dead).
Empire first aired on January 7, 2015 on Fox and stars Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures, Baby Boy) and Terrence Howard (Iron Man, Prisoners).
The Americans premiered on January 30, 2013 on FX and stars Keri Russell (The Diplomat, Felicity) and Matthew Rhys (Perry Mason, Brothers and Sisters).
Scandal debuted on April 5, 2012 on ABC and stars Kerry Washington (Little Fires Everywhere, UnPrisoned) and Tony Goldwyn (Ghost, Tarzan).
The Killing first aired on August 1, 2014 on AMC and stars Mirielle Enos (The Catch, Lucy Hank).
Star premiered on December 14, 2016 on Fox and stars Jude Demorest (Hollywood Heights, Playing God) and Ryan Destiny (Low Winter Sun, A Girl Like Grace).
“We’re so pleased to have agreed such an extensive content deal with Disney, ranging from their most iconic series and fresh hits. We look forward to our viewers being able to binge series after series on Channel 4,” said Nick Lee (Play by Play, Trial of the Century), Channel 4 Head of Acquisitions, according to Deadline.
Also according to Deadline, Zaid Al-Qassab, Channel 4 Chief Marketing Officer, stated “By bringing all our shows together under our iconic ‘Channel 4’ brand, we’re making it even easier for audiences, particularly younger viewers, to find and stream the very best telly available in the UK.”
Channel 4 has also recently struck a deal for Queer as Folk, Becoming Elizabeth, and Dr. Death with NBCUniversal.
