Andor, the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, will finally be making its debut in August, according to a report from Bespin Bulletin. The spinoff series based around Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna (The Book Of Life), had been announced since November 2018.
‘Ms. Marvel’ kicks off on June 8th. ‘Andor’ will be the next tentpole Disney+ series after Ms. Marvel. I always heard August, and I won’t be surprised if it’s still there even though ‘Ms. Marvel’ is coming slightly earlier than Disney previously mentioned. https://t.co/sCIA8O6PHg

Luna first played Andor in the first of Star Wars’ spinoff films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which showed what took place directly before the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. This series will take place during the formative years of the Rebel Alliance and prior to the events of Rogue One.
The storyline of Andor will differ from past Star Wars spinoff series as fans already learned Andor’s fate at the end of Rogue One, where he sacrificed his life in order to help the Rebel Alliance destroy the Empire’s Death Star.
Luna had discussed the show’s different storyline in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in December 2020.
“I think it’s really interesting to tell a story even though we know where it ends,” Luna told THR. “The way you can approach a story like this inevitably takes you into a deeper process of reflection. I tend to use that word a lot. So once you know what Cassian is capable of, then there’s room for so much exploration, and that’s something that excites me a lot as an actor. I think the format of a series is amazing because we have a lot of time to explore all those layers.”
Andor will continue the many Star Wars spinoff television series that Disney+ has been developing over the past couple years, which include The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett, which have since been released; as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will be released on May 25th; and Ahsoka, the spinoff series based on Ahsoka Tano, which has not received an official release date as of now.
