Disney+ Sets March 19 Premiere for ‘Hyper Knife’ as Stars Sul Kyung-gu and Park Eun-bin Discuss Medical Thriller

According to Deadline, Disney+ will debut its new Korean drama Hyper Knife on March 19, featuring acclaimed actress Park Eun-bin (The King’s Affection, Stove League) and seasoned actor Sul Kyung-gu (Memoir of a Murderer, Oasis). The series offers a thrilling blend of medical drama and crime, following the lives of two doctors entangled in a complex relationship.

The story revolves around Jeong Se-ok, portrayed by Park, a former neurosurgery prodigy who now operates secretly in an underground clinic after being cast out by her mentor, Choi Deok-hee, played by Sul. Their unexpected reunion sets the stage for a gripping and emotionally charged rivalry.

Park, known for her standout roles in Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Castaway Diva, shared her excitement about the production process. Speaking to Deadline, she revealed that working on the drama was a unique experience due to the emphasis on medical accuracy. “We had a medical professor on the shoot all the time and we were coached about the medical directions and procedures, which was a very new and creative experience,” mentions Park. “I got to look through microscopes and brain models during the shoot.”

Sul, whose distinguished career spans over 30 years with iconic performances in films like Peppermint Candy, Silmido and A Normal Family, echoed Park’s sentiments about the detailed preparation required for the series. “There are certain procedures that you need to do before you go into surgery, from wearing the scrubs and washing your hands and arms. There were a lot of details that we needed to take care of and the professor would always advise us. Whenever we made small mistakes, he would coach us,” he explained.

Sul also discussed what drew him to Hyper Knife. “When I read the script for Hyper Knife for the first time, I was very amazed by this very strange and weird relationship between Se-ok and Deok-hee. They are teacher and apprentice, but this script provided a very different dynamic that I have ever seen,” he remarked. “It was a creative and different touch to that kind of relationship and there is a love-hate relationship going on. This appealed to me and is the kind of creative and new work that keeps me going in this industry.”

With its compelling storyline, meticulous attention to detail and a stellar cast, Hyper Knife promises to captivate viewers with its release.
