According to Deadline, Disney+ will be featuring the first two episodes of the Star Wars political espionage thriller series Andor across their various distribution platforms over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, including channels and streaming sites like ABC, FX, Freeform, and Hulu. The multi-company event will showcase the series’ pilot “Kassa,” as well as its second episode, “That Would Be Me,” starting November 23, which also happens to coincide with the release of the show’s twelfth and final episode of season one.
Set five years before the events of Rogue One and A New Hope, Andor follows the journey of beloved Star Wars character and rebel insurgent, Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna (Narcos: Mexico, The Book of Life), as he transitions from petty thief to rebel leader in an on-going war against the totalitarian Galactic Empire. The show also follows a wide variety of fresh, unique Star Wars characters, including the uptight, Imperial supervisor Dedra Meero, played by Denise Gough (Colette, Too Close) and the eccentric rebel smuggler Luthen Rael, played by Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting, Chernobyl).
As written by Deadline, the first two episodes of Andor will be available first on the ABC channel, Wednesday, November 23, followed by FX on Thursday, November 24, and lastly on Freeform, Friday, November 25, airing from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. across all three channels. The series will also be available on Hulu from November 23 through December 7.
Andor is executive produced by Luna himself, alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy (Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), German television producer Sanne Wohlenberg (Black Mirror, Chernobyl), Michelle Rejwan (Super 8, Star Trek: Into Darkness), and Tony Gilroy (the Jason Bourne series, Duplicity). Gilroy is also the series’ creator and showrunner.
Currently, the first ten episodes of Andor are available exclusively on Disney+, with the eleventh episode airing later this week on Wednesday, November 16.
