Season two of Disney+’s Rivals official trailer was dropped earlier this week. The show will air May 15 after being commissioned by VP content for Disney+ Europe, Middle East, and Africa, (EMEA) Lee Mason.
Rivals Season two official teaser is below:
According to Deadline, the trailer shows off the return of the characters from season one as well as new stars coming to join the show. This list includes David Tennant (Doctor Who, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Danny Dyer (Rivals, EastEnders), Aidan Turner (Leonardo, Being Human), Katherine Parkinson (Easy Virtue, The Nan Movie) and Emily Atack (The Inbetweeners, Rivals) reprising roles along with Alex Hassell (Cowboy Bebop, Locked in), Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, Black Mirror), and Rupert Everett (Shrek 2, Another Country) for season two. The show is set in the 1980’s chaos that shows spiraling and how quickly people can change sides to save their lives when they are scared.
Deadline reports that Disney+’s hugest show overseas produces a pitch as the war between Corinium and Venturer becomes more dangerous and tedious. Tennant plays Tony Baddingham who becomes more cutthroat and to overthrow his enemies, body and mind, and puppet those that are close to him to keep his power on the top of the food chain, wanting to stay there.
Sadly, Deadline noted that since the first season of Rivals ended April 11, 2025, Jilly Cooper (Rivals, Riders) who has written the original book series of the same name, has passed away. A tribute in her honor was given on set by her friend by the start of season two in 2026. Cooper was 88 years old and had written and published many fiction and non-fiction books.
Rivals season two, which is a Hulu original, premieres on Disney+ outside the states on May 15, in two episode batches with a paid membership.
