The first official trailer for Disney+’s and Marvel Studio’s long-awaited series Hawkeye was released Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show marks the return of Jeremy Renner’s (Wind River) Clint Barton, or, Hawkeye, and is set for its premiere on the platform on November 24.
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame and still reeling from the five-year-long “Blip,” Clint hopes to be able to spend the holidays with his kids – family time that is soon interrupted by the unfinished business of his past enemies. However, he is now joined by a partner, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Seinfeld (Pitch Perfect), who has proclaimed herself the “world’s greatest archer” as stated in the trailer. The series will follow the duo’s relationship until Clint presumably passes the torch to Kate, as he does in the comics.
While the trailer does feature portions of the last phase of the MCU, such as a Broadway musical centering around Steve Rogers and a masked vigilante who fought Clint in the franchise’s epic conclusion, it does not feature Florence Pugh’s (Midsommer) Yelena Belova who was cast in Hawkeye in the summer. It can be assumed that she will be working against Clint and Kate following the events shown in the end-credit scene of Black Widow when Yelena learns of the true cause of her sister’s death.
The eight-episode first season of Hawkeye will debut on Disney+ in November. The official trailer is available to watch below.
