Following the previous announcement of the new The Muppets Mayhem series last year, yesterday Disney+ released the full trailer for the new series. Viewers can jam out with these Muppets when the series debuts on the streaming service on May 10.
The Muppets Mayhem follows the iconic Muppet band The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal (Eric Jacobson, The Muppets) on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice (David Rudman, Jack’s Big Music Show) on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot (Dave Goelz, The Muppet Movie) on saxophone and Lips (Peter Linz, Muppets Most Wanted) on trumpet — on a magnificent, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora, played by Lilly Singh (A Little Late With Lilly Singh), whose casting was announced alongside the initial news of the series being greenlit, the old-school Muppet band comes face-to-face with the modern day music scene as they try to finally record their first studio album.
Based on the trailer, the crazy ride is a wild time through today’s musical landscape, complete with cameos from a mix of famous music artists such as Lil Nas X, Kesha, Tommy Lee, Chris Stapleton, Paula Abdul (Made for Love), Canadian music producer deadmau5, Weird Al Yankovic, and many, many more. The Muppet Show house band has been a staple of the franchise since the original TV series debuted in 1976. Also among the cast is Saara Chaudry (The Mysterious Benedict Society) and Anders Holm (Inventing Anna), whose casting was announced last year.
The show was created by American television producer Adam F. Goldberg, best known for creating US sitcom The Goldbergs based on his youth, Muppet veteran performer/writer Barretta and actor/writer Jeff Yorkes (The Man Behind the Poster).
All episodes of the series will debut on May 10 on Disney+. You can watch the new trailer below.
