In its investor day on Thursday, Disney+ revealed a whole new list of content to be released on the streamer within the coming years. Alongside upcoming animated sequels such as Moana and Tiana, animated TV series based on characters from films Zootopia, Up, and Big Hero 6 have been announced, according to The Wrap.
The upcoming series based on the animals from 2016’s Zootopia will premiere in 2022. The film followed the city of Zootopia and its residents, specifically Judy Hopps, a rabbit with dreams of becoming a police officer who later befriends criminal fox Nick Wilde. Meanwhile, based on the main character from Disney’s 2016 feature film, Big Hero 6, Baymax! will also premiere in 2022. The film followed robotics prodigy Hiro and his brother Tadashi, as well as everyone’s favorite robot, Baymax.
It was also revealed that Disney+ will be releasing an Up spinoff series based on the 2009 classic which followed 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen who fulfills his and his late wife’s lifelong dream of flying their house to the South American wilderness. It will be entitled Dug Days and will focus on the featured dog of the film, Dug, on his adventures with Carl. It is slated to premiere in 2021.
