Agatha All Along star Aubrey Plaza (Criminal Minds, Parks and Recreation) recently shared a hilarious story of when she was roommates with her co-star in the show, Patti LuPone (American Horror Story, Life Goes On), Deadline reports.”
In a new episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Plaza explained that she became “quick friends” with her new co-star, and LuPone encouraged her to try out for a new play. But she also tried to teach her a hilarious lesson by being “almost killed” with a dose of Benadryl. If anyone is interested in viewing the YouTube clip, it is embedded below.
“According to Deadline, Plaza explained that one day she got “really sick,” and LuPone suggested a “special nurse” named Joe. LuPone attended a gala that same night, and the nurse was going to come to the shared apartment around 10:30 PM to give Plaza an IV supplying nutrients. Joe asked if Plaza also wanted a dose of what LuPone uses to sleep easier, and the actress agreed. When Plaza realized it was Benadryl, she was already falling asleep.
“It was like a horse tranquilizer for me. And she walked in when I was just mid tranquilizer and I couldn’t talk,” Plaza explained as she hilariously reenacted the scene to demonstrate it to the audience and Meyers via Deadline. LuPone made a peanut butter sandwich to lessen the effects as Plaza came down from the shot.
After the awkward encounter with the nurse, according to Deadline, Plaza asked LuPone why that happened in the first place. “And she went, ‘It’s happening because you are on the stage now and you need to toughen up. And that is why it’s happening,’” she explained, as she mimicked LuPone’s voice via Deadline. “And I understood everything about Hollywood in that very moment.”
Another hilarious moment between the pair was when LuPone helped her dress and make her soup in the morning. She explained, via Deadline, that “Every morning I would come out and there would be a different piece of raw meat thawing on the counter … And then one time I came out and she was carving a turkey [not during Thanksgiving and in her underwear] and she said, ‘Doll, I have to leave town for a few gigs, but I’m gonna carve this turkey and put it in the fridge, and I want you to make sandwiches out of it every day.’ Sandwiches, out of this turkey. And I was like, ‘Whatever you want.’”
