Percy Jackson and the Olympians is putting in maximum effort for Disney+. According to Deadline, The premiere episode of the Disney+ original series, based on Rick Riordan’s books (The Chalice of the Gods, The Sun and The Star), has now gathered twenty-six millions views in its first three weeks on Hulu and Disney+, According to Disney. That’s twice as many viewers compared to what they managed on the week of debut.
The live action series is based of Riordan’s book series and the 20th Century Fox’s two installments of the Percy Jackson movies. Similar to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, the series breaks it down into forty minute episodes about Percy dealing with the life changes of being a half-blood and being chased by mythical creatures.
According to Deadline, Disney says the five streamed available episodes have surpassed ten million views in their debut week on Disney+, which appears to be consistent with the season’s premiere, though some decrease is to be expected as the series progress.
Similar to the Netflix computation, Disney+ calculates a view by dividing the hours viewed overall by the series’ runtime a view. As Deadline notes, Nielsen data, which provides data on viewership of a series, may be available beginning this week for Percy Jackson and the Olympians if applicable.”
Since Disney has given insight into the success of the premiere episode, there’s a good chance that the series may be on the Nielson top ten chart. This might offer additional information about the series in comparison to other popular series at the moment both on Disney+ and other streaming platforms.
The highly reviewed Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians stars the three main protagonists Walker Scobell(The Adam Project, Secret Headquarters) as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jefferies (Beast, Something from Tiffany’s) as Annabeth Chase, and Ariyan Simhardi (Cheaper by the Dozen, Spin) as Grover Underwood.
Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson series & The Kane Chronicles), Rebecca Riordan (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (Stargirl, Maze Runner), Bert Salke (First Wave, Boomtown), Jeremy Bell( The Spiderwick Chronicles, Abduction), D.J.
