The comedy is set to debut on the streaming service on August 17. View the trailer down below.
Maslany appears as Jennifer Walters, an attorney who finds herself the center of attention after being bestowed with powers similar to her Avenger cousin, Bruce Banner aka The Incredible Hulk. Just as Walters becomes the face of her firm’s new superhuman law division, she must balance her newfound abilities along with the other troubles of adulting in her thirties.
In the trailer, Walters is seen juggling her new semi-powered kind of life. When she isn’t busying learning to master her hew abilities with cousin Bruce, played by the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Mark Ruffalo (This Much I Know Is True, Spotlight), she’s balancing being a good friend, a good employee, and finding a good Tinder date, or two.
Along with Maslany and Ruffalo, the series will see the return of Tim Roth (Lie to Me, Tin Star) as the Abomination, who had an MCU cameo in last year’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He won’t be the only film star appearing in the series as Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Benedict Wong is also set to appear. Other cast members include Josh Segarra (Arrow, The Other Two), Reneé Elise Goldsberry (Girls 5Eva, Altered Carbon), Jon Bass (Baywatch, Molly’s Game), and Ginger Gonzaga (Kidding, Togetherness). While many roles have been kept under wraps, Gonzaga has been rumored to play Walters’ best friend, Jill Stevens. The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil rounds out the main cast as the alleged villain, Titania.
According to a Disney press release, the half-hour comedy will include nine episodes. The majority will be directed by Kat Coiro (Marry Me, Life Happens) while three will be helmed by Anu Valia (Only Criminals, And Just Like That…). Jessica Gao (Robot Chicken, Silicon Valley) is attached as head writer.
She-Hulk is just one of the many Marvel projects that have debuted this year. Last Wednesday, fans finished the six-episode season of Moon Knight with Oscar Isaac (Scenes of a Marriage, Show Me a Hero). And next month, Ms. Marvel will debut on June 8 with newcomer Iman Vellani bringing the teen hero to life.
