Fans were given a first look at the upcoming Secret Invasion series, starring Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) and Ben Mendelsohn (Captain Marvel). The sneak peek was part of the Disney+ Day event.
In the Marvel 2021 Disney+ Day special, Marvel Studios gave first looks at the upcoming projects coming to the streamer, including upcoming series She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Moon Knight. The special also announced new series including an animated series on Marvel Zombies, a series focused on WandaVision‘s Agatha Harkness, and an animated series focused on the origins of the MCU’s Spider-Man.
At the end of the special, fans were given a first look at Secret Invasion with Jackson’s Nick Fury seen without his iconic eye patch. Marvel also unveiled a new logo for the series.
Secret Invasion will adapt the popular comic crossover storyline from 2008 and will focus on a sect of Skrulls — shapeshifting aliens introduced in Captain Marvel — infiltrating all aspects of life on Earth with Fury and the Skrull, Talos, (played by Mendelsohn) caught in the middle.
In addition to Jackson and Mendelsohn, the cast will also include Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Olivia Colman (The Mitchells vs. The Machines), Killian Scott (Love/Hate), and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore) in undisclosed roles, and Kinglsey Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami…) in a lead villain role.
Marvel teased fans with loads of content coming to Disney+. Marvel also confirmed the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off, Echo, new logos for She-Hulk and Ironheart, and revival of the classic X-Men 90s animated series, titled X-Men ’97.
Secret Invasion is currently in production. A premiere date has not been announced.
