Disney+ has officially tapped into millennials’ childhoods— the newly established streamer just picked up a Lizzie Mcguire revival series for its upcoming line-up. Cast: Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas will all join Hilary Duff in the new series reprising their roles as Jo, Sam and Matt McGuire, respectively. Other casting details on regarding the series’ other stars has not been announced.
The original early 2000’s series followed Lizzie McGuire, a 13 year old girl who wants to be popular, and her best friends Miranda and Gordo. Several episodes during the show’s run centered on Lizzie’s life, her family, and typical teenage shenanigans. Each episode also feature snippets of Lizzie’s animated alter ego that represented her true feelings.
Picked up straight to series in August, the sequel will revolve around Lizzie as she turns 30 and navigates life in New York City with the official logline reading:
Lizzie seemingly has it all — her dream job as an assistant to a fancy New York City decorator, her dream guy and a picturesque Brooklyn apartment — but things aren’t always as they seem. With a little help from her friends, her loving family and her 13-year-old alter ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood.

Original series creator Terri Minsky will serve as showrunner on the updated version, with Duff and Rachel Winter serving as executive producers as well. Ranada Shepard will co-exec produce the series, in partnership with Salty Pictures.
