According to Deadline, the longest running Disney Channel live-action series, Bunk’d, is going to end with the seventh season. Bunk’d season seven part one debuted on July 23, with the 12th and final episode airing on December 1st on Disney Channel.
Bunk’d aired its 150th episode in September during part one of season seven.
Season seven’s production was stopped during the Writers Guild of America strike, which began on May 2nd. As of May 2nd, only twelve episodes of the season had been finished. The season was originally ordered for 20-episodes, however, Disney Channel has ordered an additional two episodes. The upcoming ten episodes are presently in production.
In a statement to Deadline, President of Disney Branded Television Ayo Davis (Ghosts of Mars, Detroit Rock City) said, “With a fantastic cast of characters and hilarious and heartful storylines, it’s no wonder Bunk’d has been one of Disney Channel’s longest running and successful live action series. We’d like to thank our talented cast, creative team and crew for bringing tremendous joy and laughter to kids for seven incredible seasons.”
Bunk’d is a spinoff series of Disney Channel sitcom Jessie. It first debuted on July 31, 2015 and followed the Ross siblings as they spent the summer at the rustic Camp Kikiwaka in Maine. The first season starred Peyton List (Cobra Kai, School Spirits) as Emma, Karan Brar (Invisible Sister, Diary of a Wimpy Kid) as Ravi, Skai Jackson (Sheroes, Descendants 3) as Zuri, Miranda May (Liv and Maddie, The Heartbreak Kid) as Lou Hockhauser. May has been a part of the series since the beginning, while Jackson, List, and Brar departed after the third season.
Other cast members of Bunk’d also include Scarlett Estevez (Dew Drop Diaries, Lucifer), Trevor Tordjman (Zombies, The Next Step), Will Buie Jr. (In the Tall Grass, Daytime Divas), Israel Johnson (Night Catches Us, Schooled), Shiloh Verrico (Crown Vic, Country Comfort), Alfred Lewis (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Urbans), Shelby Simmons (Snow Day, Raven’s Home), Raphael Alejandro (Acapulco, Kindergarten Cop 2), and Luke Busey (Change of Heart, Cobweb).
Pamela Eells O’Connell (The Suite Life on Deck, The Suite Life Movie) created Bunk’d and executive produced seasons one, two, and three. Erin Dunlap (Andi Mack, Best Friends Whenever) and Phil Baker (Good Luck Charlie, I Didn’t Do It) served as showrunners for the fourth season, with Dunlap serving as showrunner and executive producer for the fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons.
