According to Deadline, Disney+ has just cast Tony-award winning actress Nikki M. James (Severance, The Book of Mormon) in an undisclosed role for the upcoming Marvel revival series, Daredevil: Born Again. The details surrounding James’ role are currently being kept under tight wraps by Marvel, who declined to comment about the star’s recent casting as written by Deadline.
James first rose to prominence in 2011 when she originated the role of Nabalungi in the critically-acclaimed hit Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon, for which she won the Tony award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She is also known for her roles in the romantic drama film Spoiler Alert and more recently, for her onstage performance as Ida B. Wells in the suffragist stage musical, Suffs.
Alongside James, fellow acting talents such as Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark, The Offer), Margarita Levieva (In From the Cold, The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (Better Call Saul, The Returned) have also been cast in the highly-anticipated superhero series. Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire, The Theory of Everything), who formerly played the titular character of Daredevil in the 2015 Netflix original series of the same name, will be returning to reprise his role in Daredevil: Born Again, as well as Vincent D’Onofrio (Godfather of Harlem, The Eyes of Tammy Faye), who formerly played Daredevil’s arch-nemesis and prolific mob boss, Wilson Fisk A.K.A., Kingpin (for further information on Vincent D’Onofrio’s casting check out our other article here).
More on the casting of Daredevil: Born Again can be found here and here.
Daredevil: Born Again is written and executive produced by Matt Corman (The Enemy Within, The Brave) and Chris Ord (Covert Affairs, Containment) with both Kevin Feige (the MCU franchise, You’ve Got Mail) and Chris Gary (Blackballed, Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men) also serving as producers for the series.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ sometime in early 2024.
