Disney+ Announces ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Holiday Special

The Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be returning for a 45-minute holiday special on December 11, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe special episode will featured performances of notable holiday songs by the show’s season one cast Olivia Rodrigo (Bizardvaark, An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success), Matt Cornett (Bella and the Bulldogs, Life in Pieces), Joshua Bassett (Stuck in the Middle, Grey’s Anatomy), Sofia Wylie (Andi Mack, Back of the Net), Larry Saperstein (Fan Girl), and Julia Lester (Mom).

The High School Musical reboot series follows high school students as they put on a stage production of the parent film. Throughout the episode, the cast will also provide anecdotes of their childhood holiday experiences. A holiday soundtrack for the special will be available to stream on November 20 through all major music streaming platforms.

In a statement regarding his upcoming holiday special, executive producer Tim Federle (Ferdinand) stated, “The holidays remind us of the universal importance of family and loved ones,” via The Hollywood ReporterHigh School Musical: The Musical: The Series premiered its first season in 2019 but its second season is yet to be released.
