During the Super Bowl on February 2nd, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans got some of the first glimpses of some of its exciting new series and movies set to add to the ever-expanding franchise. Whether you are a fan of Black Widow, Falcon, or Bucky Barnes, Marvel fans rejoiced at seeing the familiar and new faces that are coming to the big and small screens in the near future. The Disney+ streaming service has announced various Marvel television shows in the upcoming years such as Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as Loki. Recently, Disney+ and Marvel have announced the addition of Gugu Mbatha-Raw to star in the future Loki series in an unspecified role.
The Loki series has already announced the reprisal of Tom Hiddleston as the titular character along with the additions of actors Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino. Wilson has established himself as an accomplished actor in the comedy genre through films such as Wedding Crashers and the family-friendly Night at the Museum franchise while Di Martino is an up and coming British actress who recently starred in 2019’s Yesterday. Mbatha-Raw is also an up and coming British actress who starred in the live-action Beauty and the Beast, as well as Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and Concussion. Currently, these three actors additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their roles within the Loki series are still undisclosed as fans are eager to see what’s in store for the stand-alone narrative for the “God of Mischief.”
Anticipation for phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its television series expansion has been high since its fans have last seen its superheroes in the summer of 2019. The announcement of a new casting choice for Loki has only provoked more fan theories on the series’ possibilities and the universe as a whole. Hopefully, as the world gets closer to the Loki television premiere in early 2021, more information concerning the plot and star-studded cast’s specific roles will be revealed.
