Disney+ and ITVX Will Be Sharing Content Starting This Month

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ITV and Disney+ just announced they will be collaborating with each other.  Starting July 16, a regularly refreshed selecting of shows (shows and movies) from Disney+ and ITVX will be available for viewers on each of the perspective streaming platforms. This new content will be promoted as, “Taste of Disney+” and a “Taste of ITVX.”

Across Europe The Hollywood Reporter lists that combining traditional TV providers and a streaming services has become very typical, such as, Netflix and TFI, Amazon and France Televisions and in Germany RTL and SKY.

As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, in the UK, Disney+ customers will be able to view shows such as Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office, Spy Among Friends and the reality show, Love Island. Concurrently,  FX’s The Bear, Lucasfilms’ Andor, and Only Murders in the Building are among a few of the shows that will be streaming on the ITVE platform.

Karl Holmes, General Manager of Disney+ and EMEA, spoke about the agreement between the two companies, citing their  “strong, evolving relationship to The Hollywood Reporter. This wouldn’t work if we had the same demographic as ITVX.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Lygo, Managing director of Media and entertainment at ITV added, “Disney are fantastic partners with a brilliant breadth of content…This mutually beneficial alliance allows us to show out complementary audiences a specially selected collection of titles, regally updating, that gives a flavor of the range in out respective offerings.”

“We are proud of this innovative collaboration with ITV, which will allow us to bring Disney+ customers some of the U.K.’s favorite and buzz worthy shows and encourage ITVX viewers to discover some of Disney+’s award-winning series and blockbuster films,” said Joe Earley, president, direct-to-consumer at Disney Entertainment.
