With Summer 2025 approaching fast, exciting news for fans of the long running show Dexter has been announced. According to Comicbook, Dexter: Resurrection has finally released the first teaser trailer. This comes as a surprise to fans who remember the show’s finale over 12 years ago, however, the return of the series hopes to garner new fans on platforms such as Paramount+ and Netflix, along with bringing back those fans who have been there since the beginning.
Showrunner Clyde Phillips (Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Suddenly Susan) reportedly stated the comeback of the series was to be released in June, however it seems that, via Comicbook, there is still production in progress. With two episodes planned to premiere on the same date, Phillips still promises that the comeback of Dexter will debut in July, which is stated in the teaser.
Following the release of the trailer, the cast and crew of Dexter: Resurrection will be hosting a panel at CCXP Mexico at the end of May, which is stated to be a comic-con like event. Further, it has also been confirmed that the new series will contain multiple seasons, and of course will see the return of the beloved Michael C. Hall (Ruth & Erica, Six Feet Under) as Dexter. Hall has previously discussed his excitement towards returning to his role as Dexter Morgan, calling the comeback of the franchise a “new beginning” with a future full of energy.
In a discussion with Geektyrant, Phillips and Hall both chime in about the possibility that the show could return for years, after being asked if they view the series as a “one-off.”
“We’ve got the strongest franchise in Showtime’s history, and we plan to do this for years.” Phillips says. Hall then chimes in as well saying, “Years with an s. The thinking is not to come back for a sort of self-contained one-off again, but leave it open to further exploration. The intention, and hope, is that the story will continue beyond this.” Phillips said via Geektyrant.
