The highly anticipated prequel series Dexter: Original Sin has added some more regulars to the cast. According to Deadline, since the announcement of Patrick Gibson (The Portable Door, The OA), who will be playing the younger version of the starring serial killer Dexter, Showtime has now announced four new additions to the cast. All of whom are paying younger versions of the previously known original characters.
Production for Dexter: Original Sin has finally kicked off in Miami. With that announcement, Deadline has also reported that actor James Martinez (Love, Victor) is playing a young and rising homicide detective who leads not only with his brains but with his heart. Christina Milian (Falling Inn Love), who plays the first female homicide detective in the city of Miami, Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly), who plays the role of the partner of Dexter’s adopted father, and Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist), who is playing a forensic scientist who is in charge of a brand new intern, none other than the titular character of Dexter Morgan. All actors who joined the cast are set to play the younger versions of the original characters.
Dexter: Original Sin, is a 10-episode drama from Showtime and is a prequel to the original series Dexter. The series follows Dexter Gibson, a student in the city of Miami in 1991. As the series progresses, viewers watch as Dexter transitions from being a student to being an upcoming serial killer. As he starts to grow into this role and his urge to kill starts to consume him, Dexter then turns to his confidant Harry, who teaches him a code to help him out. This code that Harry teaches him helps Dexter to find individuals who he can kill as according to Harry, they deserve to die. With this, the two also perform their craft all while avoiding law enforcement as he begins his internship in the forensics department at the Miami Police Department.
Dexter: Original Sin has begun production and will be streaming on Paramount+. There is no official timeline as to when the series will premiere.
