Actor Dennis Farina passed away on Monday at the age of 69.
Farina was famous for his performance in his 1988 movie “Midnight Run” and his role a Detective Joe Fontana for two seasons of the crime drama Law & Order.
Law & Order creator and executive producer, Dick Wolf, sent a statement to Entertainment Weekly following Farina’s death: “I was stunned and saddened to hear about Dennis’ unexpected passing this morning. The Law & Order family extends sympathy and condolences to his family. He was a great guy.”
More recently, Farina guest starred in New Girl as Nick’s (Jake Johnson) father. The character was killed off a few months ago in the episode “Chicago”.
Johnson, who had bonded with Farina, said in a statement “I feel very honored to have had the chance to meet, talk the Chicago Bears, and act with Dennis Farina. He is someone I will surely miss. I looked up to him personally and professionally. I am sad for his family, friends and his fans. We all will miss out.”
