All Dexter fans rejoice, SHOtime’s favorite foul-mouthed detective will be starting a new project: Stanistan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Carpenter is returning to cable in this USA Network’s Middle Eastern drama.
This new series, whose pilot was picked up back in May, will follow the staff that make up the American compound in the Middle Eastern country of Stanistan. The drama will show State Department workers, CIA officers, and journalists strike a delicate balance of danger and levity The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Andy Parker is writing the pilot and will serve as supervising producer. Carpenter, set to play a public affairs officer, will once again take on the role of a hyper-alert female, always ten steps ahead of everyone around her. Additionally, Carpenter’s character, Marcie Post, will act as the press officer for the State Department, forced to make even the most negative stories have a silver lining.
