Dean Winters set to star as one of two leads in CBS’s Battle Creek, a new series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and House creator David Shore.
According to Deadline, the Oz alum will star alongside Aubrey Dollar and Edward Fordham Jr. The project comes from Sony TV and CBS Studios. It focuses on Detective Russ Agnew (Winters) and FBI Agent Milton Bradley. The two have different worldviews and are put together to clean up the “mean” streets of Battle Creek, MI. Winter’s character, Agnew, is the kind of detective who no one wants to partner with because of his mean and gruff reputation. He is smart, tough, impatient and pragmatic guy.
Dollar will portray Holly, the office manager who has a mutual attraction with Agnew. Fordham will portray Aaron Funkhauser, a chubby detective. Others on the cast are Kal Penn and Janet McTeer.
Creator Gilligan and showrunner Shore co-wrote the script. They will executive produce alongside Mark Johnson for Sony Pictures TV and CBS TV Studios.
Winters is repped by UTA’s Bill Butler and Sandra Chang. His TV credits include Rescue Me, 30 Rock, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He will also star opposite Keanu Reeves in John Wick.
