‘Deadloch’: Liam Hemsworth Joins Second Season Of Amazon’s Australian Cop Comedy

Prime Video has announced the casting of Liam Hemsworth (Most Dangerous Game, The Witcher) in the upcoming second season of the Australian cop comedy, Deadloch. Per Deadline, filming has just wrapped in Hemsworth’s native Australia, in the “croc-infested waters” of the Northern Territories, and has moved to Brisbane’s studios in Queensland.

The series, a hit for the streaming service, follows actresses Kate Box (Four Years Later, Ladies in Black) and Madeleine Sami (Double Parked, My Life is Murder) as Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe, a pair of mismatched detectives. The new season will follow their investigation into the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy. When a body is discovered in a remote town, they are flung into a new sweatier, stickier investigation.

Hemsworth will reportedly play “croc-wrangling Territory icon” Jason Wade. A larger-than-life character, Wade is the creator and star of Jason Wade’s Adventures Down Under and the owner of Jason Wade’s Land of Crocs and Other Animals wildlife park. Deadloch creators Kate McCartney (The Deep, The Katering Show) and Kate McLennan (Get Krack!n, Winners & Losers) called Hemsworth’s addition as “perfect casting.”

Previously announced new cast members include Steve Bisley (Darby and Joan, Mystery Road: Origin), Shari Sebbens (The Office, Thou Shalt Not Steal), Jean Tong (Safe Home, Erotic Stories), Genevieve Morris (No Activity, The Family Law), Byron Coll (Time Bandits, The Luminaries), and Nikki Britton (How to Stay Married, The Other Guy).

The series is a co-production of Guesswork Television, OK Great Productions and Amazon MGM Studios. McCartney and McLennan serve as EPs alongside Kevin Whyte (Rosehaven, Hard Quiz) and Tanya Phegan (Rake, Operation Buffalo) from Guesswork Television. Andy Walker (Prosper, Five Bedrooms) produces the series while episode directors include Beck Cole (High Country, Wentworth) and Gracie Otto (Ladies in Black, Heartbreak High).

There is no launch date yet for the second season, but it will reportedly run for six episodes, two less than the previous season.
