HBO Max will pick up Batman’s confidante and infamous butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Stars Jack Bannon (Endeavor) and Ben Aldridge (Reign) confirmed at this weekend’s DC Fandome that the series will be returning for season three on HBO Max.
At the event, season three was confirmed to be in production, and the series will be moving to HBO Max as an HBO Max original. The first two seasons will be made available on HBO Max in early 2022. The series will be moving to the streamer after two seasons on Epix.
Set in 1960s London, Pennyworth follows Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who starts his own security company that becomes employed by Thomas Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s father. The series can be described as part spy action series, part psychological thriller.
Season three will pick up five years after the events of the second season. The civil war has ended, and a new age of superheroes and villains emerges in which Pennyworth must contend with
Pennyworth is one of many DC series that made the move to HBO Max after near cancellation on another network. Titans, Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn, and Young Justice were all picked up by the streamer at its launch and gotten new life on the streamer. Doom Patrol was confirmed to be renewed with a fourth season amid its midseason premiere.
Pennyworth season three does not have a confirmed release.
