Just this past Sunday June 19, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) released the names of the winners in the Digital Dramas categories for the Daytime Emmy Awards through a livestream, according to Deadline. The Daytime Emmy Awards recognizes work in American daytime television. This event was the 47th annual award ceremony and was hosted this year by Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye For The Straight Guy).
The ceremony was conducted from a Burbank studio where social distancing protocols were obeyed and nominees waited eagerly at home to listen for this year’s winners. The livestream not only included a list of the winners, but also interviews with the nominees at home.
The 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards featured close to 300 entries in the Digital Drama category, focusing on 25 specific shows. Additionally, history was made with this year’s award ceremony when Scott Turner Schofiled (The Conductor) in Studio City and Rowin Amone (Uncanny) in King Ester both became the first two transgender acting nominees in history.
Among the winners was Entertainment Tonight for Outstanding Entertainment News Show. The acceptance speech was given by Kevin Frazier (The Insider, The Talk) and can be watched below.
Additionally, The Bay The Series was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Digital Drama Series. The acceptance speech was given by executive producers Kristos Andrews (This Just In) and Gregori Martin (Raven).
