The long list of impressive talent HBO has managed to attract for its different television shows only continues to grow, according to Deadline. It was announced this week that David Tennant has been cast in a lead role opposite Jennifer Garner for HBO’s new upcoming series, Camping.
Camping will be HBO’s newest half-hour comedy series. The series is based on a British series and will be brought to HBO by Girls creator and writer, Lena Dunham. Dunham will also be writing and co-executive producing with Jenni Konner on the project.
David Tennant has been cast as Walt, who is planning to celebrate his 45th birthday with a camping trip. Garner is set to play his overly organized and at-times controlling wife, Kathryn.
At the last minute, Kathryn decides to bring along her sister and an ex-best friend to accompany the couple on the camping trip. As a result, the trip quickly turns from peaceful to agitating for Walt.
The comedy marks a return to HBO for Lena Dunham, whose series Girls is widely considered to be one of HBO’s staple comedy series. If the quirky and memorable humor of Girls is any indication, Camping might be one of the highlights of HBO’s upcoming television programming slate.
HBO has not said when Camping can be expected to premiere.
