Former Rules of Engagement star David Spade is headed to HBO with a new comedy series.
According to Deadline, the former star of Just Shoot Me and Rules of Engagement is in negotiation with HBO network for an untitled comedy project. Spade will be the co-writer alongside Dean Lorey (The Crazy Ones).
The comedy follows the life of Shane, previously the biggest rock and roll manager in L.A. He seems to be struggling to remain relevant in a constantly changing music scene with techno, hip-hop and with his newly signed pop Christian boy band, The Five Commandments.
Though there is no signed deal yet, there is an intention for Spade to play Shane if this project is approved.
Spade’s writing resume include Saturday Night Live, the series The Showbiz Show with David Spade, Joe Dirt and Lost & Found. He was recently seen in the summer hit movie, Grown Ups 2.
