Director David Slade has joined Netflix’s twisted but highly entertaining series Black Mirror and will be responsible for directing an episode for the upcoming Season 4, reports Screencrush.
Black Mirror is an anthology series, with each episode serving as a standalone work. Showrunner Charlie Brooker writes most episodes, but enjoys the chance to allow different directors with highly unique visions to helm each individual episode. As a result, the show is able to have an overarching dark and unsettling tone while at the same time allowing each episode to bring a fresh, new energy to the series.
As Black Mirror has grown increasingly popular, the show has begun to attract a slew of high-profile directors who are eager at the chance to add their voice to Brooker’s series. In addition to Slade, other directors that will be involved with Black Mirror Season 4 include Jodie Foster and John Hillcoat (Lawless, Triple 9). Last year’s Season 3 included episodes directed by such directors as Joe Wright (Hanna, Atonement) and Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane).
David Slade is well versed in directing for television and has done episodes for Hannibal, Breaking Bad, and American Gods. He has also directed films such as Hard Candy and Twilight: Eclipse. Slade recently shared a photo of his director’s slate from his Black Mirror episode on Twitter.
So I’ve been doing this – but I can’t talk about it…. pic.twitter.com/X9jUih4FUE
