David Berson, former ESPN executive, will be promoted to president of CBS Sports. He is currently in charge of CBS College Sports Network and will continue to fill that role, as well as oversee the CBS Sports Network.
CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus first announced Berson’s promotion. The president position has been empty since McManus began his job as chairman in 2011, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
When announcing the promotion, McManus said, ““David’s contributions and expertise in all areas of our business, including programming, production and business affairs, have managed to exceed our high expectations since he joined CBS Sports.”
Berson has plenty of experience running sports networks, as he worked for ESPN for 16 years, starting as an intern and working his way up to vice president of program planning and strategy, says the LA Times.
According to CBS Sports, Berson “led the programming group through a dynamic period at ESPN and ABC, including the launch of numerous additional networks and multimedia products.”
