Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Snowpiercer) has joined The Boys for its fifth and final season. According to Deadline, the Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor has been cast as a series regular. However, details about his character are currently under wraps. The announcement was first made on the show’s official Instagram.

Diggs is best known for his dual roles as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton’s original Broadway cast. His performance earned him both Tony and Grammy awards in 2016. He has also co-created, executive produced and starred in both the Blindspotting film and its subsequent Starz series. More recently, he had roles in Netflix’s Star Trek: Prodigy, Prime Video’s Invicible, and Hulu’s Solor Opposites. He also starred as Sebastian the crab in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic book series of the same name written by Garth Ennis (Preacher, Punisher) and Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan, Ballistic), both of whom serve as executive producers for the Prime Video series. The series explores what a world of superheroes would look like if those heroes were controlled by corporations and used their powers to commit heinous acts.
Erik Kripke (Supernatural, Winchester), showrunner and executive producer of The Boys, announced ahead of the show’s season four premiere in June that the series would be concluding with season five. He has also promised that the show’s final season will deliver a satisfying ending for the characters that deserve it and a brutal one for those that don’t.
Diggs will be starring in the final season of The Boys alongside its returning cast: Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games, Scream), Antony Starr (Banshee, Cobweb), Erin Moriarty (Blood Father, Jessica Jones), Jessie T. Usher (Shaft, Smile), Laz Alonso (Jumping the Broom, Fast & Furious), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl, The Covenant), Tomer Capone (Taagad, When Heroes Fly), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad, Bullet Train), Colby Minifie (Homebody, Jessica Jones), Claudia Doumit (Timeless, Dylan and Zoey) and Cameron Crovetti (Goodnight Mommy, Boy Kills World).
The first four seasons of The Boys are available to stream on Prime Video.
