Darren Criss to Star In, Write Original Music for Quibi’s Musical Comedy ‘Royalties’ Starting June 1

Darren Criss (Glee) will appear in musical comedy series Royalties starting June 1. The series streams on Quibi, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The series follows Pierce, played by Criss, and Sara, played by Kether Donohue (You’re the Worst) who struggle to write original work for their demanding star clientele. Among the stars looking for original songs are Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) and Mark Hamill (Star Wars). Other celebrity appearances announced will include John Stamos (Full House), Julianne Hough (Footloose) and Jennifer Coolidge (A Cinderella Story), via Entertainment Weekly.

Criss will not only write the original songs for Royalties but write the series itself with Nick and Matt Lang from the YouTube channel  Team StarKid. The brother duo will also executive produce alongside Gail Berman (Pilot), Hend Baghdady (Starlet), Joe Earley (The Addams Family) and Ricky Rollins (Girl Most Likely). The series will be produced by Fox Entertainment’s Sidecar, via Entertainment Weekly.

For people looking to enjoy the songs after the series release, Republic Records will release the Royalties 12-original-song soundtrack on June 12, via Playbill.

Readers can now watch Royalties on the Quibi app. The official trailer for Royalties is also available to watch below.
