Daredevil Season 3 will reportedly introduce comic book villain Bullseye to the Netflix show, according to That Hashtag Show this week. The pop culture publication claims Wilson Bethel (CW’s Hart of Dixie), who was announced as a cast member in November, will portray the villain. However, no official announcement has been made yet, with the report seemingly stemming from a Reddit thread.
As detailed by Comic Book, the report comes from an anonymous user, defenders_throwaway, who has been cited by Marvel-focused blog and news site MCU Exchange for spoilers for Daredevil sister series The Punisher and Defenders.
It says the source claims: “currently working on the first episodes of DD3. It starts really slow and introduces too many new characters. the plot could go either way, hard to say at this point. But they do a whole episode about Bullseye’s background and I think its cinematically the best episode out of all of Marvel shows so far. Kingpin gets all the files and tapes about Bullseye and he “walks” through bullseyes memories to look at his life. it is fantastic.
“DD3 is a bit slow and convoluted. It really picks up the pace in the middle and I think the end of the season might turn out great. Bullseye is legit scary. Nobody wears their costume from the comics. DD is more of the same, but again, anything involving Bullseye is a standout. They really nail the fact that he’s deadly from afar.”
And while the source said it doesn’t know whether or not someone will die in Season 3, they promised a “big” church fight scene.
Of note, Comic Book points out that Daredevil and Bullseye fight in a church in the Guardian Devil saga from the comics.
Further evidence supporting the report of Bethel playing Bullseye comes from the original announcement of the actor’s casting, as pointed out by That Hashtag Show.
“The exact character Bethel is playing is being kept under wraps. It is known, however, that he will portray an FBI agent who will play a critical role in the conflict between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, better known as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively,” Variety reported at the time.
More clues come from the casting call that Bethel answered, as per Comic Book: “28-35, 5’9-6’1, Open ethnicity. An athletic but socially awkward FBI Agent, needs structure and rules to suppress the darkness inside himself. Athletic with medium build, responsible and resourceful, hair trigger temper. SERIES REGULAR.”
Season 3 of Daredevil will reportedly hit Netflix this year, but it doesn’t have an official premiere date yet.
