A little more than a week ago, it was documented and noted that Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofiro expressed support for a fan’s petition, which now sits at 175,000 signatures, and became one of the first members of the cast and crew to diffuse the radio-silence between them and the viewing audience since the series’ cancelation last November. The cancelation was one of the biggest hits for the MCU TV fanbase, so much so, that fans have now become so loud that they have caught the attention of the Devil himself.
According to Comicbook.com, the Devil from hell’s kitchen, Charlie Cox, has officially issued his public support for the petition while attending ACE Comic Con. Cox shared how he stumbled on to the online campaign to bring back Daredevil, website titled Save Daredevil, stating: “I found out the other day there’s this petition, #SaveDarevil. You can sign it. Sign it.” Like everyone else who worked on the show, he was taken aback by the decision to cancel the series, especially given how well-received their last season was with a 96% rating on the Tomatometer. To be fair, the show reportedly dropped more than half of its audience in the carryover from season two to the season three.
Though these online petitions rarely succeed, the stars assistance is sure to play some kind of role in hopefully getting the show renewed for a fourth season. The high-profile support is something that makes this particular petition a game-changer, but Disney has yet to confirm or disavow any possibility of a fourth — and possibly final — season. But with the MCU’s lack of acknowledgment and the continuing separation between the silver-screen and everything that lives outside of it, it’s hard to imagine anything becoming of the petition, despite the outpouring of support from both fans and, now, cast members.
