Netflix is premiering a new spooky adult animated series just in time for autumn, and its creators were behind the acclaimed series Rick and Morty. Comicbook.com notes that the streaming platform just released its first trailer for Haunted Hotel, created by Matt Roller (Speechless, Community) below.
According to Comicbook.com, Roller will executive produce the series alongside those who have also worked on Rick and Morty. This includes Dan Harmon (Community, Strange Planet), Steve Levy (Community, Strange Planet), and Chris McKenna (Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Lego Batman Movie). Furthermore, Erica Hayes (Carol and the End of the World), who has also worked on Rick and Morty, will serve as the supervising director.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel,” Roller shared in a statement with Netflix via Comicbook.com.
Given the tone of the trailer and the other works its creators have worked on, it’s clear that Haunted Hotel will not only be spooky, but it will also be quite funny. According to comicbook.com, Netflix provides a snippet of what the show could be about, saying “a single mother of two struggles to run a haunted hotel with the help of her estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts haunting the hotel and thinks the other ghosts have some pretty good ideas.”
Comicbook.com also writes that Billy Wee, Netflix Director of Adult Animation, also had only good things to say ahead of the premiere. “Haunted Hotel is wildly inventive, and I’m very grateful to Matt, Chris, Dan, and their team for bringing their talents to Netflix. They are phenomenal collaborators, and I can’t wait for fans all over the world to experience this hilarious show.”
Haunted Hotel will air on Netflix on September 19.
