Danny Cannon will direct and serve as executive producer for Fox’s comic book drama Gotham.
Reporter exclusively by Deadline, the series hails from Warner Bros. TV and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller. There was a bidding war before this series landed in the hands of Fox. Gotham follows the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that gave Gotham City its fame.
Gotham has a series commitment and is a priority project for Fox.
Gotham follows Gordon a detective with Gotham City Police Department. The series takes place before Gordon meets Batman, who will not be in the series. Bill Finger and Bob Kane created the Batman comic. Commission Gordon appears in comic books and Batman films including Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, played by Gary Oldman.
Cannon’s other TV credits include directing the pilots and executive producing on the CSI franchise, CW’s Nikita, The Tomorrow People and Lifetimes The Lottery. Cannon is also attached to Ellen DeGeneres’ 1930s Hollywood drama project at the CW.
