Two popular Danish series will make their North America streaming debut on Topic. The service, owned by First Look Media, will exclusively stream the drama series When the Dust Settles and the documentary series Through Greenland, Deadline reports.
When the Dust Settles recently premiered back in February 2020 on Denmarks Radio the official state public broadcasting network of Denmark. The series follows several different yet initially unconnected characters and how their lives change after a major terrorist attack in Copenhagen. Forced to rely on each other to survive during the attack, their stories become closely interconnected with one another as they try to navigate their lives in the aftermath.
Dorte Høgh (The Pig) and Ida Maria Rydén (Ben) co-created the series, while Stinna Lassen (The Charmer) produces. Over one million viewers tuned into the series premiere, making it a major success for Denmarks Radio. The Executive Sales and Acquisitions Manager for Denmarks Radio spoke enthusiastically of this deal with Deadline, commenting that “We are delighted that Topic has picked up When the Dust Settles. The series is an ambitious project that speaks to something in all of us and I hope that the North American audience will embrace our series wholeheartedly.”
Through Greenland is a documentary mini-series focusing on the landscape and ecological history of Greenland. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) stars as himself, guiding viewers on the journey through the largest island in the world. The series aired back in May 2019.
The streaming service Topic focuses on hosting independent and critically acclaimed features, documentaries, and series from around the world. The subscription fee is $5.99/month for monthly, or $59.99/month annually. When the Dust Settles will debut on Topic July 16th, and Through Greenland will begin streaming on August 27th.
