Daniel Sunjata (Graceland) joins the season two cast of Starz’ Power Book II: Ghost according to Deadline. Sunjata will be a series regular featuring opposite stars Mary J. Blige (Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy) and Michael Rainey Jr. (Luv) Power Book II: Ghost is the first spinoff from the Power universe franchise which premiered right after the original Power series ended. Creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp (Power) with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Power) executive produce the series alongside Mark Canton (Den of Thieves, 300). Season two of the Lionsgate TV studios production series began filming this month in New York, according to Deadline.
According to Deadline, Sunjata will play Mecca. The Big Bad. Mecca is calculated, manipulative, and dangerous. He conveniently reappears in New York around the same time the Tejadas need to fill the void of a new product supplier. As Mecca’s ominous past begins to come to light, it slowly reveals that this product business might not be his only end game with this family.
Sanjata has starred in FX’s Rescue Me, USA Networks’ Graceland, and ABC’s short lived legal drama Notorious. He most recently co starred in Quibi’s #FreeWayShawn and had a major character arc that stretched over a few episodes in the NBC series Manifest.
