Daniel Radcliffe will not be playing the titular role in Marvel’s Moon Knight series, according to CBR. The Harry Potter star debunked the rumor that he would star in the series, stating that he would only get involved in another film or television franchise if he truly loved the concept.
“If I was ever going to go back into a franchise, I think the bar for that script would be even higher than anything else,” Radcliffe said in an interview with ComingSoon.net. “Before you can sign on to being in anything for multiple years, you have to be sure you’re really going to love it all the time. I’m not averse to doing any kind of franchise thing in the future again, that could be fun. But the Moon Knight rumors are untrue. I can officially debunk that one. I haven’t heard anything about it.”
Radcliffe did not mention whether Marvel approached him about the role, so it is unclear whether or not he actually had to turn it down. Moon Knight’s star is currently unknown.
Moon Knight, which will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be a Disney+ exclusive series. The streaming platform has already planned a lineup of Marvel series, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. The popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has played a key role in the rapid rise of Disney+.
At the moment, little is known about the plot and cast of Moon Knight. The series’ eponymous hero is a lesser-known Marvel Comics character whose abilities include expert martial arts and detective skills. In the comics, Moon Knight has teamed up with Spider-Man and the Avengers, but there is no evidence that he will do so in the Disney+ series.
The release date for Moon Knight has not been set as of yet.
