Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) will co-star in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘s interactive special, TVLine has learned. According to the official description, Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) “sets off on her biggest adventure yet. Three states! Explosions! A dancing hamburger! And you, the viewer, get to decide how the story goes. Will you foil the Reverend’s evil plan and get Kimmy to her wedding on time? Or will you accidentally start a war against the robots? So grab your remote and a tray of delicious scrod, ’cause Kimmy’s got her own Netflix interactive special!”
Kimmy is going to her wedding, possibly to Daniel Radcliffe’s character, and that the viewers will be able to choose how the story continues, like in Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and other interactive shows. Radcliffe’s role has not yet been revealed. The core cast members also include Tituss Burgess, who plays Titus, her roommate and best friend, Carol Kane (Lillian), the landlord, Jane Krakowski (Jacqueline), the former employer, together with Jon Hamm, who will once again play Reverend Dr. Richard Wayne Gary Wayne, Kimmy’s kidnapper in the special.
This will not be Radcliffe’s first TV role. In fact, the actor currently stars together with Steve Buscemi on the comedy Miracle Workers, which airs on TBS.
Netflix ordered the special after Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s fourth and last season dropped in January 2019. The series followed Kimmy Schmidt (Kemper) as she continued to adjust to the 21st century and discover her real identity. According to Netflix, co-creator and executive producer Tina Fey said that the interactive special “will be a great way to officially complete the series.”
The special was created and executive produced by Robert Carlock and Tina Fey. The other executive producers include Jeff Richmond, Meredith Scardino, Sam Means, and David Miner. It is produced by Little Stranger, Universal Television, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Bevel Gears, Variety has learned.
“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re about to start production on an all-new interactive Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special, set to debut on Netflix in 2020,” Fey stated. “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was one of the first original comedy series on Netflix, and now it will be its first interactive comedy event. Fans will be able to make choices on behalf of our characters, taking different story paths with, of course, different jokes. I think it’s a great fit for our show and will be a great way to officially complete the series,” Fey added.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special is set to premiere in 2020 on Netflix.
