According to TVLine, one of the stars of Chicago Fire, Daniel Kyri (Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party, Six Feet Apart), issued final goodbye to the show. Earlier this year, mxdwn.com noted that Kryi would not be returning for season 14. After news of a limited return to the series, Kryi recently posted a message on Instagram as a final farewell to his role and time on the NBC series. See the full post below.

In the post, Kyri stated, “Okay. Yesterday, I filmed my last scenes as Ritter & I’m still so amazed that my first-ever TV gig—a role that was originally meant for just three episodes—turned into seven incredible years (SEVEN?!?!! Whatttt???!) and spanned eight seasons of this iconic show! While I know I may never find another cast and crew as amazing as this one, I intend to carry what I’ve learned from you to every set in the future.”

TVLine also mentions that the actor continued to thank Wolf Entertainment, his reps, and everyone else involved in creating his character. Kryi shared how proud he is to have had the opportunity to portray the character, “a gay Black firefighter who is proud, fierce, loyal, & whole…who embodies empathy, humility, compassion, and unwavering bravery to save lives.” Kyri goes on thanking his fans and co-stars for their loyalty during his time on the series.

According to TVLine, Kyri was not the only cast member leaving the series. It was revealed back in May that his fellow cast member and series regular, Jake Lockett (Gingersnap Christmas, A Rush of Peace), would be departing the show. Andrea Newman (The Secret Circle, Private Practice), the showrunner, told TVLine there was no plan for Kyri’s departure, but “lots of possibilities there.”
