Could a new Stars Hollow townie be in our favorite fictional Connecticut town? According to E! Online, Dan Bucatinsky is set to appear on the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls.
He filmed scenes with Alexis Bledel and marked the occasion with two tweets, one to an Instagram post and one tweet as a photo with Bledel, saying that Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) is missing out on the fun.
Bucatinsky was featured in the first three seasons of Scandal, where he played James Novak, Cyrus Beene’s boyfriend and eventual husband. He was killed by Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) in an episode of the third season of the show and appeared in a fourth season episode in a flashback appearance. In 2013, he won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as James Novak.
Also in the ShondaLand universe, he does work as a producer on Grey’s Anatomy – where he also wrote an episode and was a guest star in one of the episodes as well.
He’s also an executive producer on The Comeback and also played Billy Stanton on the show. He also does work on Lisa Kudrow’s other show, Web Therapy, where he plays Jerome Sokoloff. He’s also the creator of the show and the executive producer.
Most recently, he was on NBC’s comedy Marry Me, where he played Kevin 2 in the show’s only season.
Other stars who are slated to come back to Gilmore Girls include all of the Gilmore family with the exception of Edward Herrmann who died at the end of 2014. Melissa McCarthy was able to squeeze in a quick visit to the set and her character of Sookie St. James will be appearing in the show after much speculation that she wouldn’t be appearing.
Other Stars Hollow townies returning to the show include Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), Miss Patty (Liz Torres), Babette (Sally Struthers), Kirk Gleason (Sean Gunn) and Rory’s three main boyfriends – Dean Forrester (Jared Padalecki), Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry).
Sutton Foster and Mae Whitman are also appearing in the show, though they didn’t appear in the original series.
No premiere date for Gilmore Girls has been announced yet, but the show is expected to be released sometime later this year on Netflix for streaming.
