Damon Lindelof Responds To Backlash On HBO’s ‘Lanterns’ From Green Lantern Writer

According to ScreenRant, Grant Morrison (Batman R.I.P, The Invisible), beloved writer for DC whos had a hand in many Green Lantern projects, made their feelings known on Damon Lindelof’s (Watchmen, Lost) recent comments about the Lanterns TV show now being called Green Lantern.

Grant Morrison shared the following via ScreenRant: “CBS News 24/7 journalists are walking off the job on both coasts today because management refuses to agree to a new contract with essential work protections and fair wages. Despite multiple days of good faith negotiations and a strike pledge signed by 95% of our members to emphasize the seriousness of our demands, management continues to offer us worse terms than in our last contracts. We chose this field to cover the news, but we believe this work stoppage is necessary to achieve a fair contract. We eagerly await an acceptable contract offer from Paramount—which just shelled out tens of billions of dollars to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.”

He continued ScreenRant, “Green Lanterns is a much more evocative and dramatic title than ‘Lanterns’, , and anyone who can’t grasp why that is shouldn’t be anywhere near superhero stories. The show might even be good, but how much better could this stuff be if studios were willing to hire the right people for the job instead of phoning their embarrassed friends to water the source material down? Hollywood will die of insularity and inbreeding.”

As per ScreenRant, the comment stated by Lindelof came during an appearance on the Lovett or Leave It podcast, a comedy show, where he had jokingly stated, “It’s called Lanterns, because we all agreed that the ‘Green’ was stupid, so now it’s just Lanterns.” After his statement got around, it received strong reactions online, and he has now taken to Instagram to clear up his original statement.
