Electronic French duo Daft Punk will be appearing on The Colbert Report August 6 for the third year of the show’s concert series titled “Colbchella”. This appearance will mark their first television appearance since their May release of “Random Access Memories”.
The robot-suited duo (who never come into public to perform without their helmet get ups) will either perform, be interviewed or both on the show, according to MTV News.
It is also unclear whether Pharrell and Nile Rodgers, who are featured in Daft Punk’s summer hit “Get Lucky”, will perform with the duo.
During an episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last week, Stephen Colbert spontaneously danced unannounced through the curtains to “Get Lucky” towards the surprised Fallon who, to avoid looking stiff, joined Colbert in the immediate rave. “I don’t know what just happened,” Fallon said when Colbert left the stage.
Colbert used this Late Night appearance to advocate Daft Punk’s appearance on his show while also asking his guests to dance to “Get Lucky”, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“RocktAugustFest”, last year’s Colbchella name, featured the Flaming Lips, fun., Santigold and Grizzly Bear. The Colbchella before that, “Rock You Like a Thirst-Icane”, included Jack White, Bon Iver, Florence and the Machine and Talib Kweli, according to Rolling Stone.
