Lucasfilm began today’s D23 Expo with a slew of first looks at new series and seasons in the Star Wars lore. One of the exclusives was the first official trailer for Disney+’s third season of The Mandalorian. View the new trailer below.
The new trailer showcases The Mandalorian in new locations, evading rival ships, and more members of the Mandalorian faction which many thought to have perished. Season three resumes from the events that occurred when we last saw Pedro Pascal’s (The Last of Us, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) Mando in The Book of Boba Fett. After nearly losing the Kid, Grogu, to the Empire, Mando has reunited with his adopted son but faces a new threat. Pascal’s Mandalorian has committed the cardinal sin of removing his helmet, which sets him at odds with the sect of Mandalorian. On the run as an outcast, our bounty-hunter-turned-single-father must not only continue to protect Grogu, but he must survive as well.
Set to stream sometime next year, season three will see the return of series favorites. Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy, BoJack Horseman) will star again as mechanic Peli Motto; Giancarlo Esposito (Godfather of Harlem, Dear White People) as Imperial leader, Goff Mideon; Katee Sackhoff (Another Life, Riddick) as vengeful Mandalorian princess, Bo-Katan Kryze; Emily Swallow (Supernatural, Haunting of the Mary Celeste) as the Armourer; and, Carl Weathers’ (Chicago Justice, Rocky) Greef Karga. Previous costar and episode director, Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Wood), has joined the series as an executive producer. He of course joins creator Jon Favreau (Chef, The Lion King) and writer Dave Filion (Star Wars: Rebels, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) behind the camera.
In addition to The Mandalorian news, Disney’s D23 Expo revealed updates on the Ahsoka series and Star Wars Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law (Captain Marvel, Peter Pan and Wendy); debuted a brand new trailer for the animated series, Tales of the Jedi; and, premiered the final trailer for the spy thriller, Andor, which premieres on September 21st.
Both seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
