The Walker, Texas Ranger reboot is maintaining staff within a tight familial loop according to Variety. Genevieve Padalecki (Hated Veronica) will be starring as Jared Padalecki’s (Supernatural) late wife in the series premiering January 2021.
The American action television show is inspired by the 1993 television series, Walker, Texas Ranger, created by Leslie Greif (Sun Records) and Paul Haggis (Crash). It was highly influenced by the film, Lone Wolf McQuade.
Chuck Norris (A Force of One) was the star of the Texas Ranger Division within the 1993 series, and will now be starred by Padalecki as Cordell Walker in the reboot. As a widowed father, Walker returns to Austin to fix amends with his children and family, especially his new partner. Although, he is in disarray and suspicious of his wife’s death the whole time.
Genevieve Padalecki will star as Emily, Cordell’s late wife and will make an appearance in flashback sequences throughout the show. Walker’s new partner will be played by Lindsey Morgan (Detention) according to Variety.
Both Genevieve and Jared Padalecki have shared screen in in multiple episodes of “Supernatural” within 2008 and 2009, so it won’t be anything new for the power duo.
Walker is one of two CW shows that has a straight-to-series format in the upcoming season. The show is set to premier in January 2021.
Anna Fricke (Valor) will write and executive produce Walker, alongside Padalecki, Dan Lin (The Lego Movie), and Lindsey Liberatore (The Day After Tomorrow).
