CW’s ‘All American: Homecoming’ Is Canceled And Will End After The Third Season

The CW has announced that All American: Homecoming won’t be renewed for fourth season, Deadline reports. According to the news outlet, the cast was informed of the network’s decision last night. Now, the only surviving series on the network is All American, which has been recently renewed. Nkechi Okoro Carroll (Found, Bitter Waiter, Apartment A), All American and All American: Homecoming’s executive producer/showrunner, has shared an exclusive statement about the cancelation news.

“I’m devastated to learn that All American: Homecoming will not be moving forward with more episodes and that this new season premiering in July will be our final one,” she shared via Deadline. “However, I am so very grateful to have worked with this incredible cast and crew, led by Geffri Maya, to bring the authentic HBCU experience to your screens for the last three seasons. We made this show for the culture and thank our loyal audience and fans for taking this ride with us. We made this show so that our community, our kids (and their dreams), could be seen and celebrated every week and we are proud to say we accomplished that mission… Especially with this exciting final season which we can’t wait to show you all. So with a heavy but proud heart, I give one final shoutout to our favorite Bringston Lions!”

All American: Homecoming was having cost issues for a while. The license fee for the series was severely cut from $500,000 to $750,000 per episode last year. The show also gave The CW very low views, which the network heavily focuses on. Furthermore, All American is currently in deal with Netflix. Warner Bros Television is the one that did a separate deal for Homecoming to be available to stream on Netflix; however, it doesn’t cover a fourth possible season, according to Deadline’s sources. The show won’t even be aired during the regular broadcast season anymore, only in the summer, with the release of the third season set after the end of the sixth season of its predecessor, All American.”

“We want to thank the cast, crew, producers, NK, Marqui and everybody at Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television for their hard work and dedication in telling these important stories for three incredible seasons,” The CW shared in an exclusive statement to Deadline. “The upcoming final season is the best yet and we cannot wait to share it with fans beginning on Monday, July 8.”

All American: Homecoming is produced by CBS Studios and Warner Bros. Television in association with Rock My Soul Productions and Berlanti Productions. Executive producers are Carroll, Sarah Schechter (Atlas, My Policeman, Fly Me To The Moon), Greg Berlanti (Everwood, The Flash, Arrow), Robbie Rogers (Love, Simon, The Real O’Neals, Luna Goes Cruising), Lindsay Dunn (Fosse/Verdon, Diptych, Boardwalk Empire) and Marqui Jackson (The Resident, MacGyver, Rosewood).
