‘Curb Your Enthusiasm:’ HBO Comedy Toasts A New Trailer for Eleventh Season

A day after HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm announced the guest stars set to appear in its new season, the network dropped the trailer for the comedy’s 11th season. Larry David (Whatever Works, The Three Stooges) returns as himself in the half-hour semi-biographical series that functions as the daily hijinks of David, a man set in his ways in a world that’s ever-changing. Check the trailer out below.

The trailer opens with David ruining a dinner party as he refuses to participate in a toast. When he’s confronted about his objection, he and his friend Jeff Greene, played by Jeff Garlin (The Goldbergs, WALL-E), sarcastically mock the dinner host. From there, the trailer showcases David’s signature discontent for everything and everyone. From claiming the idiocy one has to possess to get stuck in traffic, to defending his lackluster towels.

According to Deadline, not much about the new season has been revealed. During the Creative Art Emmys last month, series regular JB Smoove (Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Husbands of Hollywood) hinted at a possible COVID-19 storyline.

“I can’t tell you guys everything, but what I can say is Larry is really good at attaching his humor to the world and that’s consistently what he has done since Curb has been on HBO. He’s a master at it,” Smoove said via Deadline. From the look of the trailer, there are no signs of present-day America with masked passersby and bottles of hand sanitizer on every countertop.

“He has this thing he does where he attaches himself and his thoughts and his opinions to the beat of whatever is going on in the world,” Smoove continued via Deadline. “You gotta watch and see what Larry does. He’s a genius, he really is.”

In addition to Smoove, the trailer confirms several other familiar Curb Your Enthusiasm actors have returned for the new season. We see the likes of Cheryl Hines (RV, Son of Zorn), Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Bridesmaids), Richard Lewis (Anything But Love, Wagons West), Seth Rogen (An American Pickle, Invincible), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, M.O.D.O.K.) and Richard Kind (Inside Out, Spin City) to name a few.
