Evan Ellingson, a former child actor, has passed away at the age of 35 in his San Bernadino county home, according to TV Line. Ellingson notably starred in the shows CSI: Miami and 24. TMZ reported the news this morning.
Ellingson’s father, Michael, confirmed the unfortunate news and said his son was found dead at a sober living home. The actor had battled with addiction in the past and was living at the home while in rehabilitation. The cause of death remains unknown, and no foul play has been suspected.
Before moving away from the Hollywood limelight in 2010, Ellingson had held a recurring role in CSI: Miami, portraying Kyle Harmon, who is the son of Lieutenant Horatio Caine, played by David Caruso (Jade, NYPD Blue), and Julia Winston, portrayed by Elizabeth Berkley (Saved by the Bell, Baywatch.)
His first appearance on the show took place during the season six premiere, and he was in a total of 18 episodes. Also, during season six of the drama series 24, Ellingson portrayed the character Josh Bauer, the nephew of Jack Bauer.
Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland (The Lost Boys, Stand by Me), is the main character in the series, working as a counterterrorism agent. The show follows his daily life as he deals with topics like nuclear attacks, bioterrorism and assassination attempts.
The two get caught up in the family drama, and Ellingson’s character is seen overcoming all of the mayhem and drama brought on by his grandfather within 10 episodes.
He also starred in ABC’s sitcom Complete Savages in 2004 as Kyle Savage, as well as acting in the FOX TV sitcom Titus back in 2001. Some other appearances made by Ellingson are Bones, General Hospital, Mad TV and State of Mind.
Ellingson was also in the 2009 film My Sister’s Keeper, portraying Cameron Diaz’s (Shrek, Charlie’s Angels) adolescent son.
