The sudden death of CSI: Miami actor Evan Ellingson occurred earlier this month on November 5. He was found in his sober living home in San Bernardino, California, and there was no cause of death released to the public. But now, about a month later, the tragic cause of death has been released in a report to the police.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has told The Hollywood Reporter that Ellingson died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl. The 24 actor had reportedly struggled with substance abuse in the past, but was found dead in the sober living home that he was recovering in.
Ellingson had been out of the limelight of Hollywood for a while now as he stepped back from acting in 2010. His days in the acting business mainly were in his younger years as a child, and a teenager.
He did play a recurring role in CSI: Miami, appearing in season six and sticking around for 18 episodes as the character Kyle Harmon. He also appeared in the series 24’s sixth season for 10 episodes as the character Josh Bauer. He also has TV credits in the 2004 sitcom Complete Savages, the 2001 series Titus. Other credits of his include Bones, Mad TV, State of Mind and General Hospital.
Ellingson not only acted in television, but film as well. In the 2004 film My Sister’s Keeper he played the son of Cameron Diaz’s character.
The actor had shared previously in 2021 that he had been struggling with drug addiction for quite a while. He shared that he was seeking addiction recovery treatment at River’s Edge Ranch after his long journey with substance abuse after he got into hard drugs at the young age of 19 years old. Ellingson was only 35 years old when he passed away, and his father Michael was the first to report and confirm his passing.
